Not everybody knows that  the well visible modern building long the Thames on the opposite side of the Big Ben is an important cultural centrespecialised and dedicated to cinema.

It is the National Film Theatre where the British FilmInstitute celebrates all year, the best movies of all times, with previews, shows, conferences with directors and actors, cultural venues and competition to encourage young emerging filmmakers.

On the first floor is a stylish restaurant and a lounge full of comfortable sofas and tables, newspapers and  magazines where you can having a break between movies or simply spend your days.

Next to this relaxing refreshment area the mediatheque puts at your disposal all kind of material about cinema.
